Ann M. Holmes

Ann M. Holmes (Hagerty), beloved wife of the late James C. Holmes, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2018. She was surrounded by her family and the loving staff at St. Patrick's Residence in Naperville, Illinois. Ann was born in Washington Courthouse, Ohio on April 9, 1933 and became a school teacher after graduating from the University of Toledo. She proudly taught at Blessed Sacrament Grade School her entire career and made some of her most treasured friendships while teaching there. Ann loved to play golf and enjoyed many trips to Myrtle Beach to play golf with her loving husband Jim, before he passed away. After Jim died, Ann still played golf regularly with many cherished friends at Giant Oaks Golf Course and enjoyed weekly card games. Fiercely independent, Ann continued her love of travel with many road trips across the country. Some of those trips with friends and some alone in her car, enjoying the landscape and the little towns she visited. A devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, Ann had a knack for making all the kids laugh and for giving unique and silly presents at Christmastime. Ann was the proud mother of Jim Holmes (Cathy), Jane Sharp (Brad), Angie Sylvester (Steve) and Peggy Fuechtman (Dave). Loving grandmother of Tommy Holmes, Brendan Holmes, Emily Holmes, Alex Palmer, Joey Palmer (Amanda), Sean Palmer (Erin), Andy Sharp, Jill Sylvester, Matthew "Matty" Sylvester, Kelly Sylvester, Paige Sylvester, Rachel Fuechtman, Hannah Fuechtman and Adam Fuechtman. Doting great-grandmother of Hayden Palmer, Quentin Palmer and Grace Palmer. Fun loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Dear sister of Joan Hauser, the late Richard Hagerty, and the late Tess Hagerty. Preceded in death by her parents, John and Dorothy Hagerty. She will be missed dearly, but Ann was ready and looking forward to joining Jim, her parents, her siblings and the Lord in eternity. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to St. Patrick's Residence in Naperville, Illinois or to Cherry Street Mission Ministries in Toledo, Ohio.
