Barbara J. Tibbits

TIBBITS Barbara Jean (Jones) Barbara Jean Tibbits, 80 passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Toledo Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 14, 1932, in Toledo to Robert and Elva (Robertson) Jones. Barbara attended Holland High School (now Springfield) where in 1947, as a freshman she met the love of her life, Roy D. Tibbits. During high school, Barbara was President of the National Honor Society, class secretary, and member of the Latin Club; choir; and a Varsity cheerleader. Barbara loved music and had a beautiful singing voice, often singing at weddings. Barbara and Roy were married October 21, 1950 and spent 58 wonderful years together. Barbara worked as a bookkeeper for many years and enjoyed many vacation trips with Roy and their two children. Barbara was a strong, independent woman who dealt with many personal hardships in her life, but always had a warm, loving smile and a warm hug for everyone. She touched the hearts, and was loved by many. Barbara was blessed with four grandsons and always enjoyed attending their sporting events. She loved Tigers baseball and Ohio State Football, her family always knew not to bother grandma when the Tigers and Buckeyes were playing on TV! Barbara was preceded in death by the love of her life, Roy, her parents, and brother, Bob Jones. Left to cherish her memory are her loving son, Roy Jr, her devoted daughter Amy and son-in-law Tom, grandsons, Evan and Aaron Hughes, Roy III and Alex Tibbits, her sister Betty (Karl) Walter, Sister-in-laws Marge Tibbits and Ann Jones, Brother-in-law Bob Tibbits and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff of Aspen Grove Assisted Living (her extended family); the care and devotion you showed to Barbara Jean will never be forgotten. Friends and family are invited to visit from 2:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue, where funeral services will begin at 11:00 am on Wednesday May 23, 2012. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions are made to Aspen Grove Assisted Living, 7515 Secor Road Lambertville, Michigan 48144 in Barbara's name.
