Eillen Helvey

HELVEY Eileen "Pat" Eileen "Pat" Helvey, 83, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away Monday, September 10, 2007, at Sunset Village. Pat was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and Central Catholic Booster Club. Pat retired from St. Vincent Hospital in 1979 as Assistant Personnel Director. "Mom helped half of Central Catholic get jobs when we were in high school", said sons, Rick and Don. Pat was married to her husband, Bob for 60 years. They enjoyed traveling and spent the winters in New Smyrna Beach, Florida for 19 years prior to moving into Sunset Village. Pat was an avid sports enthusiast following her three sons throughout grade school and high school watching them play football, baseball, and basketball. "We always knew when mom was in the gym or on the field because she would always yell at the referees when they made a call against one of us", said her sons. She also loved watching sports on TV and would still yell a t the referees even when she didn't know any of the players. Pat was extremely vivacious and would strike up a conversation with anyone and you would think they were best friends. Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents, Frank and Katherine Hartman and her sister, Ruth (Joe) Brucken. She is survived by her children, Bob (Pam), Kathy (Phil) Garr, Don (Christine), Rick (Karen); 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to visit from 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2007, in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Ave. where the recitation of the Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. Prayers will begin in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday immediately followed by the Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Sunset Village Employee Appreciation or Central Catholic High School. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to all of the employees at Sunset Village who gave so much to our parents over the last five years. Also, we would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
