Evangelia Mihos

Evangelia Mihos, 88, of West Bloomfield Michigan, passed away in the evening on September 3rd, 2025. She was born in Alea, Greece on September 13th, 1936, and was the daughter of Panayotis and Anna Petros. Evangelia worked at Flower Hospital in Sylvania, Ohio. A fall at work forced her to retire early, as it required two back surgeries. She married Sarantos Mihos, on October 12, 1958, and their first son, Pete was born on April 9th, 1960, in Greece. Pete had one son Peter John, who at age 14 in 1997, passed away due to a tragic car accident while he was riding his bicycle. In 1966, the family moved to Magna, Utah, where Steve and Evangelia took over a bar business from his aging uncle, George Zaros. Their second son, George was born in 1966 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The family moved to Toledo, Ohio in 1977. Evangelia started working at her brothers’ store “Petros Imports”, before working at Flower Hospital. Evangelia enjoyed gardening, cooking, and loved spending time with her family and especially with her grandchildren. She was also involved in her church in Toledo. She volunteered many times at Toledo Greek Festival at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. She moved to Michigan in 2023 after the death of her husband on June 15th, 2015, and oldest son Pete on May 6th, 2021. She became a member of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, along with her son, George and his family. She cherished the fellowship she experienced with the church community. Evangelia is survived by her youngest son, George (Tina); and Grandchildren, Stephen and Marisa. She also has a younger brother, Andreas Petros (wife, Maria); sisters, Sofia, Ellie, and Soteria; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Demetra Theodorou. A heartfelt thank you to the dedicated nursing staff and doctors at Henry Ford Hospital in West Bloomfield. We are also deeply grateful to the incredibly compassionate and loving team at Heart to Heart Hospice in Troy, Michigan, for the care and kindness they showed our mother during her final days and to all of you who took the time to come visit my mom this year. Visitation is from 9-10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 13th, 2025, at the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, located at 25225 Middlebelt Rd Farmington Hills, MI 48336. The service will immediately begin at 10:00. Following the church service at Holy Cross, a short service will also be held at the Toledo Memorial Park located at 6382 Monroe St, Sylvania, OH 43560, at approximately 12:30 P.M., where she will be laid to rest.
