Evelyn Lucille Utrup

Evelyn Lucille Utrup, age 92, passed away peacefully on Monday January 18, 2010 at the Goerlich Center. She was born December 13, 1917 to Charles and Rilla Finkler in Rudolph, Ohio. Evelyn was a member of the 1935 graduating class of Woodward High School. She met and was married to Joseph Utrup October 29, 1935 at St. Michael's Church. In 1985, she retired from Bargain City after 15 years as a sales clerk. Evelyn was an avid traveler, she took many trips with her friends and her brother, George including, Hawaii, California, Las Vegas, throughout the Canadian Provinces, Disneyland in Florida, Boston, Washington D.C and an Alaskan cruise. She loved music and dancing, all types of animals, especially her 4 dogs, and her love of flowers took her to Holland for the annual Tulip festival. A devoted member of Blessed Sacrament Church for over 60 years, Evelyn was actively involved in the Adoration Society and the Resurrection Choir, and served as her neighborhood "social director" and "designated driver" taking her lady companions to church for mass and Bob Evans for breakfast. Evelyn was a member of the Vernon-McCune post #132 ladies auxiliary, where she served as the membership chairwoman. Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Diana (Gary) Douge, Linda (Chuck) Horvath; grandchildren, Melanie (Stephen) Hypsh, Brent Douge, Laura Horvath and Caroline Horvath; great grandchildren, Zackery, Brenna, Tyler, Ashlyn; and brother, George Finkler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph and grandson, Derek. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staffs at Hospice of Northwest Ohio and the Goerlich Center for the loving, compassionate care for our mother,. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 11:00am Friday at Blessed Sacrament Church with Rev. Martin Donnelly officiating. Friends are invited to visit from 2:00 to 9:00pm Thursday at the Ansberg-West Funeral Home 3000 Sylvania Avenue where the Vernon-McCune ladies auxiliary will have a service at 7:00pm and the Rosary will be recited at 7:30pm. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, The Goerlich Center or the Blessed Sacrament Building Fund.
