Frances Manton

Frances (Chiaverini) Manton, 79, fell asleep in the Lord on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at her home surrounded by her loving family.? She lived the last three years of her life with her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren.? She was in their loving care during the most critical time of her illness.? She was preceded in death by her husband Pete and her parents, Mary and Joseph Chiaverini; brothers, Vito, Carl, Valentino, Albert, Eugene and Frank; sisters, Elizabeth Kurth, Josephine Usher and Gloria Sparagowski Skowronek.? Frances was born November 20, 1927 in Toledo to Mary and Joseph Chiaverini.?? She grew up in south Toledo.? She attended Immaculate Conception Parish School and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1945.? She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.? She met her soul mate, Peter Manton, her loving husband of 50 years, while working at the New Yorker Restaurant in downtown Toledo.? They married on May 18, 1955. Frances was a Lady Shriner, Dendarah Court #10, Daughters of Penelope and a past member of Philoptochos Society at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral.? She was an avid bowler. She bowled with the Lady Shriners at University Lanes and various ladies leagues at their family business Westland Lanes.? Frances also enjoyed helping her husband Pete on weekends at their family restaurant Manton's Wharf. ? Her favorite role in life was to be a homemaker.? No one kept a more beautiful home than Frances.? One of her most beloved passions was to bake and cook.? She loved to entertain her family.? Her most enjoyable holiday was to host Christmas Eve.? The dining room table was laden with delicious holiday delicacies and treats.? Her home was always open to family and friends. ? Surviving are her son George (Karen); daughter, Jo Ann (Greg) Cook; grandchildren, Kristen, Peter and Maria; and many nieces and nephews. ? Services will be at 11 AM Monday at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 740 Superior St.? The family will receive friends from 2-8 PM Sunday in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home 3000 Sylvania Avenue where Trisagion Prayers will begin at 7 PM.? Any tributes may be made in the form of contributions to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral Memorial Fund or Heartland Hospice Foundation.? ? The family wishes to give special thanks to Gerri, Angie and Nicole of Heartland Hospice who were the caregivers for Frances.
