Frank James "Jim" Rerucha

Frank James "Jim" Rerucha passed away on April 24th at Hospice of Northwest Ohio surrounded by his loving family at the age of 90. Jim was the son of Frank and Norma Rerucha, born in Toledo, Ohio on January 18, 1936. Jim married Kathryn (Kathy) Knight and was married for sixty-seven years, beginning their relationship during their senior year of high school. He graduated from DeVilbiss High School and the University of Toledo before embarking on a distinguished thirty-three-year career with Graybar Electric Company. After residing in Toledo until 1979, Jim and his family relocated to Perrysburg. He was a devoted Michigan Wolverines football supporter and an avid Detroit Tigers fan. Sports were always an important part of his life; he played handball well into his seventies, was a co-captain of the undefeated Devilbiss High School football team in 1953 (number 65) and enjoyed both softball and federation baseball. A true family man, Jim dedicated his time and resources to supporting his family, whether assisting his parents, helping his children with projects around their homes, or spending time with grandchildren. Alongside Kathy, he raised four daughters and was a proud Pa to thirteen grandchildren and two great grandsons. Jim took pride in his Bohemian heritage, earning the nickname “Bo” or “Boheme.” He was a longstanding member of Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg and Memorial Lutheran Church in Toledo. For over twenty years, he spent many mornings at Panera Bread in Perrysburg, where he built lasting friendships with both customers and staff. With Kathy, he hosted annual gatherings for the Michigan vs. Ohio State football game, participating enthusiastically in half-time activities. GO BLUE!! He was preceded in death by his parents, Norma and Frank Rerucha; sisters, Marilyn (Bob) Naveaux and Nancy Hayes; son-in-law, John MacKay; and mother-in-law, Janet Knight. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Rerucha; daughters, Cindy Rerucha, Amy (Richard) Hoffman, Susan (Jeffery) Calmes, and Kathy (Eric) Hermiller; brother, Tom (Linda) Rerucha; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandsons. Visitation will be at Ansberg-West Funeral Home located at 3000 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo on Friday, May 1 from 3-7 pm, and a funeral service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church located at 4441 Monroe Street, Toledo at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 2nd. The family extends sincere appreciation to the aides and nurses at Hospice of Northwest Ohio and Waterford at Levis Commons for their compassionate care.
