Geneiva "Genny" Rose Scott

Geneiva "Genny" Rose Scott, died unexpectedly July 17, 2026 of an accidental fall and medical procedure. She was born September 11, 1949 in West Virginia to Betty Jean (Skaggs) & James Westley Fitzwater Genny is survived by Loving husband, Burns Michael Scott; son, Michael Taylor Scott; granddaughter, Adelynn Scott; brother, David Fitzwater and her loving dog Ruby! She was preceded in death by brothers, James & Loren and sister Jeanie A graduate of Clay High School, Genny immediately entered the workforce starting her career at Beneficial Finance and eventually becoming Owner/Director of Farnham Funeral Home, where she also worked as a Grief Counselor. Among her activities, Genny volunteered for charitable causes and doting on her granddaughter, Adelynn. Her memberships included St. Matthews Episcopal Church and recently St. Matthews Anglican Church and Sylvania Country Club where she enjoyed golfing and socializing. Genny's love story began one summer evening when she met a young man named Mike Scott. After being introduced while he was speaking with some other friends, Genny made the comment to his friend, I am going to marry that man some day! His friend replied, no way! Five years later wedding bells were ringing for Genny & Mike. Genny led a full and rewarding life that touched many lives over the years. Any baby was the cutest baby she ever saw! Genny volunteered to read to children at Temperance Elementary School and Bedford School systems. Genny's daily routine at Farnham Funeral Home dealing with bereaved families over deceased family members was a continuous battle of balance while calming those entering the funeral home and remaining calm enough herself to be a wife and mother at home. Genny's life resume reads like a novel; Daughter, Sister, Cousin, Wife, Mother, Aunt, Grandmother, Loan Advisor, Owner/Director, Counselor, Self-taught Pianist, Organist & Teacher who played organ at St. John's Mission, Chef, Gardener, Decorator and beloved Friend to many! If you wanted the truth you asked Genny if you wanted an honest opinion you asked Genny! Genny was a giver, the Matriarch of the Scott Family, continuously giving whatever she could to family and friends. A true and loyal Christian that believed in God and Country! Genny's favorite time of year was any holiday with plenty of decor to support them all. Christmas decor, fit for a Queen and that was Genny! The love of her life for 50 years and married for 45 is transcended only by the gift our world lost by having Genny in it! The flowers she planted and loved will still bloom but no longer will they receive her nurturing! The dog she loved will look for her and listen for her footsteps, but Genny awaits him in heaven. The glass half empty, we have lost an amazing, wonderful individual that can never be replicated or replaced. The glass half full, we had Genny in our lives and what a gift from heaven she was! Genny, RIP Friends are invited to visit after 12:00pm Monday, July 27, 2026 at Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, Ohio 43613, where services will commence at 1:00pm with Fr. Joseph Keblish officiating. Interment will follow in Lambertville Cemetery.
