James K. Drewyor

DREWYOR James K. James K. Drewyor, 4 days shy of 86, passed away Friday, September 18, 2015, with his loving family at his side. He was born September 22, 1929, in Toledo and was the son of Arthur and Mary Drewyor. Jim was a 1947 graduate of Central Catholic High School. Following graduation, he worked as an ironworker at A. Bentley & Sons. Jim then served honorably in the Marines, as a sergeant, during the Korean War and afterward went to work for Laskey Lumber. On March 1, 1960, he was appointed to the Toledo Fire Department, and was promoted to Lieutenant on February 1, 1972. While working as a firefighter he also worked at Century Toro and was self-employed as “The Man Around the House”. Jim retired on September 15, 1986. Following retirement, Jim could be found almost daily, enjoying time with friends at the Café Donut, on Monroe Street. He was a member of St. Clement’s Catholic Church. Jim enjoyed golfing and had many other hobbies. Survivors include his sons: David (Sandra) and Michael (Susan); daughters, Yvonne R. (Bob) Rado, Therese (Andrew) Hoehn and Annette (Dennis) Garvin; grandchildren, Tony, Rick, Michelle, Bryan, Andrea, Alyson, Sarah, Robert, Michael, Kevin, Patrick, Nicholas, Emily, Jennifer, Christina, Luke, Madison, Mackenzie and Lilly; 11 great-grandchildren, brothers, George Drewyor , Arthur (Glenda) Drewyor; sister-in-law, Mary Drewyor. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Eileen “Red” Drewyor; brother, Joseph Drewyor; sister, Carolyn Fisher and sister-in-law, Darlene Drewyor. Friends are invited to visit from 1-8 p.m., Sunday, at the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue (between Secor and Douglas Roads), where a brief prayer service will held at 7 p.m. followed by the Last Alarm Service. Prayers will begin Monday, at 9:30 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by the funeral mass at 10:00 a.m., at St. Clement’s Catholic Church, 3030 Tremainsville Road. Father Francis Speier will officiate. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Notre Dame Academy, St. John’s Jesuit High School or Ebeid Hospice.
