James R. Worley Sr.

WORLEY James R. Sr. James Robert Worley, Sr. went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, February 10, at his home in Petersburg, Michigan, under the care of ProMedica Hospice. Jim was born on April 23, 1930, in Alliance, OH¸ to James and Hazel (McGirr) Worley. He married Jane Blakely in 1950 who preceded him in death in 1971. On October 11, 1973, he married Susan Rowland who survives him. Jim was a graduate of Alliance High School and attended Kent State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. While attending college, he worked as a journeyman bricklayer. He worked at Alliance City Hospital and Republic Steel Corporation and taught accounting and computer classes at Davis Junior College. He was also involved in many community projects with the Alliance Jaycees. In October of 1970, he founded Data Service Center Inc. a payroll and tax filing service company. He retired from DSC at the end of 2006. He was a member for many years at First Alliance Church and Lewis Avenue Baptist Church. His current membership was at Calvary Baptist Church in Dundee, Michigan, where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and kids’ club leader. He was an avid soul winner and loved the bus ministry. Surviving him are his loving wife of 41 years Susan K.; children Patricia S. (Dennis) Manning, Lyn J. (Richard) Lewis, James R. (Sandra) Worley Jr, John H. (Dottie) Worley, Paul D. (Tracey) Worley, Deborah J. (Doug) Stevens, Stephen J. (Leah) Worley, Rachel I. (Brian) Johnston, Daniel M. (Jennifer) Worley, Matthew P. (Andrea) Worley; 32 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sister Donna J. Long and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Jane, twin daughters, and a still born daughter. Visitation will be Friday, February 13th, 2015, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Ave, (between Secor and Douglas Roads), Toledo, Ohio. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 14th, at 10:00 AM, at Calvary Baptist Church, 318 Riley St, Dundee, Michigan. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
