Margie A. (Ray) Meegan

Margie Meegan, 91, passed away on Monday April 20, 2026, at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital after a very brief illness. She was born on April 10, 1935, to John and Veronica (Williams) Ray. Born and raised on Hollywood Ave gave her wonderful memories to share. We heard many times about running to the bakery across the street to see her birthday cake in the window, going to the movies on Sundays and getting malts at Joe Unger’s pharmacy counter. Along with her seven siblings, they started at a young age, working at their dad’s store, (Ray’s Market) across the street on Detroit and Delaware. Her Catholic Faith was very important to her during her years attending St. Anne’s grade school and Central Catholic High School. We believe her special devotion and prayers to the Virgin Mary has helped all of us out of one jam or another! Life with Bob expanded over 64 years starting on June 11, 1953. Margie was the ruler of the household while Bob worked at Kroger. Her delicious meals and desserts were always on the table at 5pm. She made lifelong friendships with the neighborhood Berkely Bombers and her friends she met at St. Agnes and St. Catherine’s. Margie was always willing to give a hand at a parish function running rummage sales, bake booths, helping at parish dinners, fish fry’s and wherever help was needed. Margie continued to be a big fan of the Central Catholic Fighting Irish even attending a tailgate last Fall. Mom loved to celebrate holidays especially her favorite, Valentine’s Day. She loved to try anything new at the grocery store, she loved her front porch swing, Springtime, ketchup on most everything, fast food with McDonald’s being her top choice every week. We take comfort in knowing that her last supper was a McDonald’s quarter pounder, large fry and a large coke with extra ice! She had many loves, but her greatest loves were her family, especially her grandchildren who were her “Babies.” Margie is survived by her son, David Meegan; daughters, Linda Meegan and Lori (Chuck) Stein; her grandchildren, Maggie Stein and Chuckie (Alexis Kuch) Stein; and her two bonus grandchildren, Rachael and Shane, who she kept calling Shawn. Additional family members are Patsy Bragg and Donald Bleasdale, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Meegan in 2019 and her parents. She is the last survivor of her seven Ray siblings, John, Mary Rossler, Jim, Bill, Dickie, Regina Meyers and Jerry. Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 W. Sylvania Ave. from 3:00pm – 8:00pm, where a scripture service will begin at 7:00pm. Prayers will being on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 9:30am at the funeral home, followed by the Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 4555 North Haven Ave. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Catherine of Siena Church or Central Catholic High School. Mom, we will miss you but please continue to pray with Mary for us. Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
