Nancy A Newell

Nancy A. Newell (Rader) passed away peacefully in her home the morning of April 23, 2015. Nancy was born May 26, 1930 in Moundsville, WV. After high school, Nancy was employed with the Moundsville Electric Company for several years. While attending a baseball game at the Moundsville Penitentiary, Nancy caught the eye of the catcher, Bob Newell, who often played on the inmate team. From then it was “game on” and Bob and Nancy celebrated 51 years of marriage until his passing March 14, 2002. A member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church for over 50 years, Nancy served faithfully on many committees. She had a strong faith and cherished the lifelong friendships with her church family. Nancy enjoyed playing Bridge and belonged to the Toledo Women’s Club. Her family and friends will miss her many delicious desserts, buckeyes, Texas sheet cake and carrot cake to name a few. Nancy joined Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in 1951. She enjoyed many functions and lifelong friendships with her sorority sisters. Nancy enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. Her family was most important to her. Nancy was a huge Detroit Tiger fan. She would cheer her team on, especially her favorite player Miguel Cabrera. Come on Cabby! Nancy will be remembered for her kind words, gentle touch, amazing strength and positive outlook. Mom would always say, “Pray about it and tomorrow it will be a better day”. We love you Mom! White Rabbit, White Rabbit, White Rabbit! Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; sister, Barbara Derrow and parents, Bill and Elsie Rader. Surviving are her children, Skip, Ellen and Jim Newell, all of Toledo; step daughter, Barbara Suarez of Cameron, WV; sister, Jane A. Kidd of Moundsville, WV; nephew, Andrew Kidd of Bowling Green, OH; niece, Amy Werfele and great nephew, Donovan Williamson of Columbus, OH; other family and her precious grandpups, Bo and Abby The family would like to thank Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their guidance, compassion and care. Friends are invited to visit from 4:00pm to 8:00pm Thursday at Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue. Funeral services will commence 11:00am Friday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
