Richard Walton

Our loving husband, father, brother, son and grandfather, Richard Walton, recently of Seminole, Florida, passed away Saturday March 22, 2008 from pancreatic cancer.? Rich was born December 9, 1938 in Toledo, Ohio to Gilbert and Sarah (Pate) Walton.? He graduated from Scott High School in 1957.? On August 18, 1994, he was married to Marina Gerwig, who survives him. Rich was a U.S. Postal Supervisor at various postal stations in Toledo and Oregon, Ohio, retiring in 1994 with 32 years of service.?? Rich was known for his huge heart, generous nature and ability to remember which horse won any obscure harness race 10 years ago, complete with a full verbal commentary on the race from start to finish.? He loved to travel the roads of the United States and those traveling with him always came home with tales of adventure and bears.? His daughters and grandchildren were always an enduring source of unconditional love.?? He is survived by his wife Marina of Seminole, FL, daughters Cindy Walton, Christy Walton, Carey (Tom) Cramer of Toledo and Lisa (John) Dzialoski of Dowell, MD, brothers William (Eleanor) Walton of New Hampshire, Clarence (Barbara) Walton of Toledo, one sister Margaret (William) Vickroy of Wisconsin, grandchildren Lee Washington, Chad & Cathy Baker, Nolan & Clare Cramer, Jordan & Jacob Dzialoski and great-grandson Steven Wheeler.? He is also survived by his life long friend and wife of his youth, Judy (Bishop) Walton and his mothers-in-law Ruth Bishop and Joyce McCaslin.? Preceded in death by his parents Gilbert and Sarah Walton, brother Lundy Walton, and fathers-in-law Alfred Bishop and Robert McCaslin.??? The family will receive friends at the Ansberg West Funeral Home, 3100 West Sylvania Avenue on Sunday, March 30th from 1:00 to 3:00 pm immediately followed by a remembrance service. A fellowship dinner will follow the services. Rich's family would like to extend their thanks to his many friends in Toledo and Florida for their thoughts and prayers.? We will always remember the genuine concern, gentle words of encouragement and shared grief during our darkest days.? We would also like to thank the many medical professionals at Moffett Cancer Center and Hospice of Pinellas County for their ability to give Rich additional time to say goodbye and make his final days tranquil.????
