Sally G. Konz

Sally departed her loving family on April 14, 2023. Sally Gallagher was born in Toledo on October 7, 1937, to Ad and Bertha (Miller) Gallagher. Sally was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy. She trained as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and went on to have a long career at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Pediatrics and Adolescent units. On May 21, 1960, she married Gerald “Jerry” Konz. They were happily married for 33 years. They were loving parents to Rick, Karen, Kristie (Kurt) Kraftchick, and Kathie (Mark McCurdy). They raised their children with love and devotion to their Catholic faith. After an extensive illness, Jerry passed in 1993. After leaving St. Vincent’s, she worked as a nurse for a gastroenterology practice in Toledo. Sally had many hobbies but among them were her love of bridge; knitting (she made many baby blankets for the new babies in the Konz and Gallagher families) and baking (she made a delicious apple crisp!). She enjoyed meeting up with her NDA Class of 1955 classmates. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren Kayla Kraftchick, Kyle Kraftchick, Kourtney Kraftchick and Shane Konz. Years after Jerry passed, Sally was set up on a date with Paul Mechling. Over the 20 years they were together, Sally and Paul had many adventures. Dining with friends; golfing (in Toledo and Florida) as well as extensive travel. Among the places they visited were Mexico, Alaska, Ireland, Hawaii, Nevada, California, and Branson, Missouri. Paul was a special member of the family until his passing in 2018. Sally is survived by her children, her sister Mary Ann (David) Walsh, her sisters-in- law Christine Mullan, Penny O’Brien, Joanne Konz, Gladys Wilkey, and Carol Groenleer, her brothers-in-law Orv (Elaine) Konz and Tom (Amy) Konz as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Jerry, her parents Bertha and Ad Gallagher, her brothers John Gallagher and Michael Gallagher. Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, April 21, 2023 from 2:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 1:00p.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church, where friends are invited after 12:00p.m..In lieu of flowers, donations to Notre Dame Academy or St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital can be made in Sally Konz’s name.
