Sharon L. Carter

Sharon Lee Carter, 71, passed away on Saturday June 13, 2009 with her family by her side under the loving care of the staff at Ebied Hospice. She was born in Toledo on March 6, 1938 to Arthur W. and Ruth E. Stevens. Sharon attended McKinley Grade School and DeVilbiss High School. She was married to Gerald T. Carter and they had six children together. She was active in her children's lives in countless ways. She was a Sunday School teacher at Pilgrim Church, Brownie and Cub Scout Leader, room mother, PTA and Mother's Club member at Elmhurst School, and a lunch room mother at DeVeaux School. She also volunteered at Toledo Hospital during this time. She was her children's and grandchildren's biggest fan at sporting events and any other activities they participated in. After her children were grown, she was first employed as a caregiver in the health care field and became close to several families she cared for. She then worked at, and retired from Lucas County Job and Family Services where she made many dear friends. After retirement, she helped to care for her grandchildren, volunteered at various organizations and was involved in activities at the Eleanor Kahle Retirement Center. She loved the Lord and was an active member at Memorial Lutheran Church. Sharon was a loving daughter, sister, mother, aunt and nani. Her heart and home were open to all. Family and friends have many fond memories of sitting around her kitchen table visiting with her. She maintained a beautiful home, was an excellent cook, and made sure her big candy jar was full to share with anyone who came to visit. She is survived by her loving family, children, Kathy Kozak, Jennifer (Mark) O'Connor, Skip (Kelly) Carter, Cindy Carter, Chris Carter, John (Karen) Carter; grandchildren, Henry and Jim, Sherrie (Eric), Jordan, Allison, and Gabriel, Jack, Ethan, Emma, and Joshua, Jonah, Ben, and Hannah, and Andrew; sister Carolyn (Bill) Wagner and niece Ellen (Steve) Baugh. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, brother, Wayne Stevens and faithful dog Duchess. Friends are invited to visit from 2:00-8:00PM on Tuesday June 16, 2009 in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Ave. Funeral services conducted by Pastor Craig Scholl will begin at 11:00AM on Wednesday at Memorial Lutheran Church with luncheon to follow. Interment in Willow Cemetery. Donations may be made to Memorial Lutheran Chuch. We will miss you Mom!
