Suellen Grimley

Suellen Grimley, age 79, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Mothers’ Day, May 9,1943 in Toledo, Ohio to the late John and Mary Ann (Elder) Grimley. Sue attended Saint Ursula Academy. After graduating from Mary Manse College in 1965 she began her long and rewarding career as an educator. She taught 6th grade at Mason Consolidated School for over 30 years. An avid golfer, she also enjoyed traveling, woodworking, jewelry making, photography and many other interests. Card playing, especially lively games of Euchre, with family and friends was her most cherished pastime. Living in her childhood home for over 70 years,proved that she was a great neighbor: always available to help when she could, babysitting, and clearing snow from neighbors’ sidewalks. Suellen valued her deep and long-lasting friendships. When Sue befriended you, you became her lifelong friend. Neighbors,classmates,coworkers,-all were friendships she cherished. She is preceded in death by her parents,sister, Patricia Fording, nephew, Douglas Zuelke, and niece, Rosemary Smolinski. Suellen will be deeply missed by her siblings, James (Darlene) Grimley and Debra Grimley, nieces Cheryl (Al) Miller, Michelle (Jeff) Schlueter, Dayna (Chad) Wolf, Christine Gilbert, Kaytie Grimley, Danielle (Kevin) Myers, along with nephews John (Tara) Grimley, Joseph (Sheena) Grimley. “Aunt Sue” touched the lives of her great nieces and nephews , Alex,Bryton (Katie), and Jeremy (Susan) Zuelke, Joshua and Jaclynn Miller, Michael Castellon, Payge, Justin, Brayden and Dylan Gilbert, Avery and Morgan Grimley, Emmett Schlueter, Patrick, Isaiah, Daniel, and Simon Kilker, Emmaline Wolf, Conway, Grace, and Cru Grimley, Holland, and Catalina Myers. She will also be missed by her faithful companion, Rhett. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Promedica Progressive Care Unit and the Regency nurses and staff for their compassionate care to Suellen during her illness. Friends are invited to a visitation at Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 W, Sylvania Ave, on Friday, November 4,2022 from 2:00-6:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 5, at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 4250 Bellevue Road at 10:00 am. Those wishing to donate in Suellen’s memory are asked to donate to the charity of the donor’s choice.
