Barbara F. Samson, 69, of Toledo, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2008, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, in Toledo, from pancreatic cancer. She was born August 26, 1938, in Toledo. Barbara worked for 27 years with the Washington Local Schools, beginning as a substitute and then as a secretary. She worked at many of the elementary schools, the junior high and retired from the high school. Barbara served as a Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader for many years. She enjoyed bowling with the girls from work and going on family camping trips that spanned from Northern Canada to Southern Florida. Barbara also loved to spend time with her grandchildren and weekends at the cottage at Bird Lake, with family and friends. Survivors include her husband, Charles, whom she married on December 5, 1959; son, Steven (Dolores) Samson; daughter, Cheryl Rodgers (Andrew Gray); son, Jeff Samson (Carol Woodbury); grandchildren, Cody, Garrett, Skye, Emily, Alicia and two step-grandchildren, Kara and Blake, all of the Toledo area. Barbara is also survived by her brothers, Richard (Patricia) Ramer, David (Cindy) Ramer, both of Toledo and Donald (Ann) Ramer of Kalamazoo, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Edith Ramer and her sister, Beverly. Friends are invited to visit from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue, (between Douglas and Secor Roads). Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, from the funeral home. Interment will be in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 River Road, Perrysburg, OH 43551. The family would like to extent a special thanks to all the staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo for their excellent care, kindness and support.
