Donald E Malcom

Donald E. Malcom, born July 27, 1923, was taken from us on September 16, 2013. He was born in Clare, Michigan, moving to the Toledo area when he was a child. He attended DeVilbisss High School. He enlisted in the service where he was a heroic World War II veteran and participant in the D-Day invasion on June 6, 1944 in the 482nd Medical Unit. He was an electrician by trade until he retired and a member of Electrical Union Local Number 8 for over 60 years. He was married to the love of his life, Jean Hammer Malcom, on August 23, 1945 at Collingwood Presbyterian Church. He loved going to Cub Lake near Hillsdale, Michigan where he thoroughly enjoyed fishing and relaxing. An avid viewer of baseball and NASCAR races, he enjoyed many afternoons watching these sporting events. Left to cherish his memories include his sons, Daniel (Pamela) and David (Deb) Malcom; grandchildren, Heather (John) Parsons, Adam Malcom, Christopher (Reanna) Malcom, Ann (Eric) Simon, Sarah (Rob) Folger, Bryone Gilliland, Brandy Gilliland and 11 great grandchildren. Special thanks to the Franciscan Care Center for their love and care of dad. The family fondly thinks of dad being reunited with mom, whom he has missed all of these years. Friends are invited to visit from 3:00pm to 8:00pm Thursday at Ansberg-West Funeral Home 3000 Sylvania Avenue where services will be held 11:00am Friday with Rev. Patricia Shafer officiating. Interment in Toledo Memorial Park. Those wishing to make memorial donations in his honor in lieu of flowers are asked to consider Fairgreen Presbyterian Church or the Franciscan Care Center.
