Doris Ann Gould

September 24, 1921 - April 9, 2011

Doris Ann Gould died April 9th at the age of 89. She was born September 24, 1921 to parents John L. and Frances Bridget (Harkins) Coward in Walhalla, SC at the family farm in the foothills of her beloved Smoky Mountains. Doris was the youngest of six children, all of whom are deceased. Following her high school graduation, Doris worked at High Hampton resort in Cashiers, NC and later for the Greenville Health Department. It was 1945 in Greenville that Doris met the love of her life, Tech Sgt. Henry (Pete) Gould from Toledo. They married at Toledo's historic St. Patrick's Church. Together Doris & Pete raised three children. A devout Catholic, Doris & her family were longtime parishioners of St. Ann's and later St. Clement. She was a 25 year employee of Toledo public schools. Doris was preceded in death by her husband Henry and sons John J. and James W. Left to cherish her memory are daughter Mary Gould Driscoll, daughter- in- law Julie Gould, granddaughters Heather (Chris Hackbarth) Driscoll, Bridget (Kyle) Melinn and their father Neil Driscoll, Stephanie (Andrew) Ferguson, Emily Gould (Jerry), Sara Gould, grandson John Benjamin Gould (Lisa) and twelve beloved great grandchildren. We send warmest thanks to the caring staff at Oakleaf Village, who made life wonderful for Doris. Friends are invited to visit from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue, where a scripture service will be held at 7 p.m. Prayers will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday from the funeral home followed by the funeral Mass at 10 a.m., at St. Clement Catholic Church, 3030 Tremainsville Road. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. The family suggests that contributions, in memory of Doris be made to St. Clement Catholic Church.
