Dorothy Damm

Dorothy Damm, 95, passed away on February 1, 2015 at Swan Creek Retirement Village. She was the widow of Richard E. Damm. She was born in Long Island, New York on September 21, 1919 to William and Eleanor Ahrberg. She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church for over seventy years where she served on the Vestry, taught Sunday School, managed a thrift shop, chaired a search committee, was officer of The Episcopal Church Women and served on the Alter Guild. In 2003 she received an Appreciation of Service Award. Dorothy also served on the Westowne Condominium Association where she resided. Dorothy was lifetime member of the University of Toledo Alumni Association, and member of Psi Chi Phi Sorority. She volunteered at The Toledo Hospital, Flower Hospital, Parkway Surgery, and Wildwood Preserve. For twelve years she served as a teacher’s aide to physically challenged students. She enjoyed her family, dancing, reading, sewing, golf, playing bridge, and traveling. She is survived by her loving children, Diane L. (Jim) Turner and Thomas E. (Suzanne) Damm; grandchildren, Dawn Johnson and Crystian Kumnick; great-grandchildren, Kally and Jake. She was preceded in death by her son Todd G. Damm and brother Ray Ahrberg. A memorial service will be held for her at 3:00pm on Saturday February 7, 2015 in the chapel at Swan Creek Retirement Village. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, The Toledo Botanical Gardens, The Toledo Zoo, or the donor’s favorite charity.
