Douglas A. Perry, of Sylvania, passed away May 16. 2011. He was born July 18, 1949, the first of 14 children born to the late Bearl and Germaine Perry. Doug grew up in Tiffin, OH and graduated from Calvert High School in 1967. He graduated from the United Electric Institute in 1969 and started working for Haughton Elevator. In 1972 he began working at City Auto Stamping, where he earned his journeyman card and worked there for 17 years, before being laid off in 1989. For the past 21 years he has worked at Mazda/Ford. Doug loved to play cards, woodworking, metal detecting and spending time with his family. Doug's one and only grandson, Noah, was the light of his eye. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 30 years, Connie (Nagel) Perry and brother, Mike Perry. He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn (Michael) Vasko; sister-in-law, Cheryl (Perry) Reinhart; sisters, Diane (Jim) Alley, Cheryl (Jim) Caldwell, Connie (Bob) Chech, Mildred (Geoff) Davenport, Linda (Doug) Kuhn, Ellen (Jim) Beckley, Karen (Steve) Welter, brothers, Jim (Jane) Perry, Mark (Monica) Perry, Roger (Jane) Perry, Jeff (Sharon) Perry and Tony (Linda) Perry and his girl friend, Margie Taylor. Friends are invited to visit from 12 Noon to 8 PM Thursday, in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, OH. Prayers will begin at 9 AM Friday from the funeral home followed by the Mass of the Resurrection at 10 AM, in Regina Coeli Church, Toledo, OH. (A Memorial Mass will be held in Tiffin at a later date). Interment will be in Toledo Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Huntington's Disease Society of America.
