George L. Hendricks

February 5, 1956 - October 29, 2021

George Leon Hendricks, also known as June and Junebug, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, October 29, 2021, surrounded by his wife, Jenny and loving family members. He was born February 5, 1956 to George and Mary Hendricks. June accepted Christ at an early age, born and raised in the Church of the Living God, pastored by his grandmother, Elder Doretha Warren VanLeer, until her passing in October 1986. June played drums from the age of five until his passing, with many bands, in and out of town, winning contests in a few. June later met and married his wife, Jennifer, and together they raised a blended family as one. Preceding him in death are his parents, loving daughter Chelsey Lynn; sisters, Gwendolyn and Dorothy Faye Hendricks; brothers, Gervis Beach, Marvin Gibson and Bishop Tryphosa Hill. June is survived by his wife, Jennifer Rodriquez; daughters, Samantha Hendricks (Steve), Mariah (Albert) Rodriquez and Brittany (Yumz) Rodriquez; son, Aaron (Christine) Demecs, Marcus (Beverly) Bevier, Samuel (Marysa) Rodriquez, Charles (Kayla) Bevier, and Edmund (Lisa) Rodriquez; and 26 grandchildren who loved him madly. He is also survived by sisters, Damaris (Hubert) Heard, Bettye Randle of Florida, Karen (Daryl) Glover of California, Marsh (Doug) McCollum, and Gwen Beach; sister-in-law, Janice Dunbar Hill; brothers, John (Shawn) Hendricks, Fred (Lolita) Hendricks of California and Curtis Gibson of Cincinnati, OH; special cousin, Dorothy Thomas: aunts, Betty Carter and Pastor Drucilla White of Delaware; uncle Pastor Donald T. Warren (Mikey) of Cleveland, OH as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends he counted as family. The family would like to express a special thank you for all the love and support to Donna Hendricks who cared for him with love, his brother, John Hendricks who fixed his meals and made sure he arrived at Cleveland Clinic for all of his treatments, along with June's brother-in-law, Doug McCollum, and June’s best friend, Bunny Hannon. Family and friends may visit Ansberg-West Funeral Home at 3000 Sylvania Ave., Toledo, on Friday, November 5, 2021 from 2:00pm – 9:00pm. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 1:00pm at Church of the Living God, 3220 Meadowbrook St., Toledo. Following the service, a repast will begin at 5:00pm at the VFW Hall, 109 Main St., Walbridge, OH.
