Harold L. Miller

Harold L. “Lucky” Miller, 87, of Toledo, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2011. Harold was born February 9, 1925, in Toledo and was the son of Louis and Lillian (Seem) Miller. He attended DeVilbiss and Macomber High Schools. Harold began working for the West Toledo Standard Newspaper and Spicer Club before his military service. He served honorably, for 3 years during WW II, as a U.S. Army Engineer, in Asia, the Pacific Theatre and Army Special Services at Camp Stoneman, CA. Following his discharge from the Army, Harold worked at the former Heating Trades Supplies Inc., for 38 years, as a heating and air conditioning engineer and office manager, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the American Legion, Toledo Zoo, A.S.P.C.A. and the Toledo Animal Shelter. His hobbies were bowling, table pool, and sandlot baseball and football. Lucky was also an avid fan of the Toledo Mud Hens, Toledo Rockets, Detroit Tigers and Lions and Cincinnati Reds and Bengals. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Norma Miller; parents, Louis and Lillian Miller; brother, William Miller and sisters, Doris Miller and Alberta McNutt. Survivors include his sons, Jack (Judy), of Lambertville, MI and Gene, of Barberton, OH; 5 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends are invited to visit from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. Reverend Robert L. Wuellner will officiate. Interment will be in Toledo Memorial Park. Contributions in Harold's memory may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
