Kathleen Russell Navarre passed away peacefully at home on February 8, 2021. Katie was born on August 30, 1936 in Lockport, NY. She was the daughter of Alfred B and Lorraine (Johnston) Russell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Navarre. Katie led an extraordinary life of service and devotion to her faith and others. After graduation from high school in 1953, Katie entered the convent in the order of The Sisters of Saint Mary Namur. Katie spent her convent life as an educator and principal touching the lives of count less students until 1971. Katie continued her love of education in her lay life as a teacher, principal, and eventually a counselor at numerous elementary and high schools in the Toledo area. In 1987, she married the love of her life, Ray, and they spent many years traveling, working, and writing their special love story until his death in 2017. As always Katie continued to spread her love, kindness and faith to her family and friends up until her passing. She was the epitome of unconditional love and Christ-like living. In addition to her husband, Raymond Navarre, Katie was preceded in death by her siblings, Eugene Russell (Mary survives), Joan Costello (Donald), Sr Judy Russell, SSMN, Alfred Russell, OSFS, and nephew, Michael Costello. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Russell, many nieces and nephews, and her Toledo family. Due to COVID-19, a Mass of Christian Burial will be private but live-streamed to the public on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 10:30 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 2950 llger Ave. Toledo, OH 43606.
