Kenneth Campbell, age 84, who bravely fought Alzheimer’s disease died peacefully surrounded by family at Hospice of Palm Harbor, Florida on August 15, 2014. Kenneth was born on January 2, 1930; the son of Kenneth and Mary (Houston) Campbell. Mary died shortly after Kenneth’s birth and a few years later Edith (MacKenzie) Campbell became his second mom. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Campbell. After graduating from Macomber High School in 1948, Ken became a member of Local 50 Plumbers and Pipefitters. In 1951, Ken married his high school sweetheart, Mary Ellen Campbell (Gunn). In 1968, he opened his business, Campbell Incorporated in the basement of his home. In time, Campbell Inc. became a thriving Mechanical Contracting business in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. Ken served as president of the Mechanical Contractors Association (MCA) and served on the board of Health and Welfare. Ken had great pride in the members of the MCA and Local 50 and in return he was well respected by his peers. Kenneth was a lifelong member of Fairgreen Presbyterian Church where he served as Chairman of Deacons, and elder of the church and Chairman of the Trusties. Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Mary Ellen; son Keith (Kathie) Campbell; daughter Kathy (Ron) Blevins; grandchildren, Jacob (Jamie) Blevins, Kristopher (Diana) Campbell, Kari (Joe) Christy, Kelsey Campbell and Colleen Blevins; great grandchildren, Max and Kate Campbell. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 7, 2014, from 12:30-4:00 pm at Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Ave, (between Secor and Douglas Roads). The Memorial Service will be held at Fairgreen Presbyterian Chuch, 3220 W. Laskey road (near the corner of Secor and Laskey roads), Monday, September 8, 2014 at 4:30 pm. Following the service, please join us for dinner at Fairgreen Church to celebrate the wonderful life of Kenneth. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Kenneth’s honor may be gifted to Fairgreen Presbyterian Church or The Alzheimer’s Association of Northwest Ohio. Kenneth’s family would like to give special thanks to the overwhelming love of friends and family who gave and continue to give their unconditional love and support.
