Lila Graves, 86, Died July 9, 2012 at St. Anne Mercy Hospital. She was born on June 10, 1926 to Benjamin and Hilder Bernhardt in Toledo. She was the widow of Gerald (Jerry) Graves. She was a merchandise buyer 30 years for the former Lasalle's Department Store. She was a skilled and talented multimedia artist, who generously shared her works with family and friends. She was once commissioned by the Museum at the Toledo Zoo to assist with a sculpture exhibit on the evolution of man. She was a passionate advocate and lover of animals and cherished her companion dogs for many years. She was preceded in death by her twin brother Lyle, brother Albert (Sonny) and sister Blanche Sabota. In her later years she enjoyed her close companion and friend the late Gene Krispin.. She is survived by the Krispin family; Lee (Sharon), Steve (Colleen) and 3 nieces, Carol Krauss (Tim), Alison (Bob) Michalak, and Kathleen (Greg) Phipps. The family extends its deep gratitude to her dear friends Patty & Don Byczinski and Linda & John Beck for their companionship, love and care with Lila. The family will receive friends after 12 noon Saturday at the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Ave. where services will follow at 2:00 PM. Memorial contributions may to be sent to The Toledo Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.
