Mary F. Prather Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mary Fisher Prather, 91, passed away December 31, 2014, at Elizabeth Scott Community. Family and faith were the center of Mary's life. Born and raised in Kentucky, Mary moved to Toledo after marrying Jack Prather. She was an active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and enjoyed lifelong friendships from that congregation. She was also active in the Toledo United Methodist District. Mary strongly believed in helping others. She taught Sunday School, volunteered with the Neighborhood Program, Girl Scouts, Feed Your Neighbor and Meals on Wheels, just to name a few. She belonged to the Flower Hospital Guild and the Friendly Center. She worked for the American Red Cross, was director of Community Activities at St. Paul's, was Director of Activities at Spencer Manor nursing home and retired from her position as a social worker at Villa North Nursing Home in 1988. She loved nature and found great joy roaming the local parks. Mary is survived by her daughters, Susan and Anne (Burt); granddaughters, Mary, Jennifer (Kevin) and Laura; great-granddaughter, Kennedi Rae and two sisters, Norma and Lois (Garold) Services will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1201 Madison Avenue, Toledo, Ohio 43604, where friends are invited to visit after 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any tributes be made to either St. Paul's Church or Toledo Metroparks.
