Mary Theda Wagenknecht

March 19, 1919 - April 22, 2010

Mary Theda Wagenknecht, 91, passed away Thursday April 22, 2010 at Lake Park. She was born March 19, 1919 to John and Estella Simpson in Ironton, Ohio. She was a graduate of Libby High School class of 1937. Mary was an extremely gifted artist, and many of her pieces are still being enjoyed by art aficionados today. Her memberships included the Athena Art Society, Northwest Ohio Watercolor Society, Toledo Women's Art League, Toledo Artists Club, Federation of Art Societies. She also passed her love and wealth of art knowledge on, teaching watercolor at the Toledo Artists Club and YWCA sheltered women group. She was also a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church. Mary enjoyed spending time at her cottage at Round Lake and in Delray Beach, Florida. She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Sandra (Ron) Schuster; Theda “Teena” Good; brother, Robert Simpson; grandchildren, Vickie (Rodney) Wilkins, Wesley (Janet) Schuster, Jeff (Patty) Schuster, Andy Good, Ben (Joelle) Good, Tom Good; great grandchildren, Casey, Michael, Dustin, Jake, Alex, Rick, Heather (Dave), Cody, Trevor, Travis, Tiffany, Jade. Mina; great grandchildren, Damian, Deaken, Hunter and Dexter. Mary was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Leininger; second husband, Raymond Wagenknecht Sr.; son, Raymond “Bud” Wagenknecht Jr.; sisters, Eileen Noyes, Lou Loehrke, Libby Mason and brother, John Simpson. Special thanks to the staff at Lake Park for all the loving care given to Mary. Friends are invited to visit from 3:00 to 8:00pm Sunday in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home 3000 Sylvania Avenue where services will be held 11:00 am Monday with Rev. Andre Frandle (former pastor at Apostle Lutheran Church) officiating. Interment in Toledo Memorial Park.
