Mildred “Mickey” O’Donnell Mildred “Mickey” (Corrigan) O’Donnell, 86, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Monday, September 22, 2014. Mickey was born in Toledo to Gladys and William Corrigan. She attended St. Mary’s grade school and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1946. She continued her education at St. Vincent School of Nursing, graduating and receiving her R.N. Degree in 1949. She loved her career choice and took great pride in her patient care and nursing career. After working for more than 25 years as a registered nurse at St. Vincent Medical Center and while raising her 10 children, Mickey worked with her husband Dick and several of their children in the family business, Bluflame Service, retiring in 2003. She was a member of St. Catherine Church for more than 55 years. Mickey’s pride and joy was always her family and her life revolved around them. The family will be left with fond memories of summer vacations boating and camping in the Lake of the Ozarks, summer holiday and week-end barbeques with the swimming pool filled with children, grandchildren cousins and neighbors. Not to mention Christmas Eve Celebrations that often lasted well past even Santa’s bedtime. While her diagnoses with Multiple Sclerosis in her late 30’s eventually led to her retirement from both nursing and Bluflame Service, she persevered without complaint. She was throughout the years, and always will remain, a remarkable role model for both family and friends. Mickey was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Richard H. O’Donnell, sisters Joyce Maloney and Doris Weiser and brothers Raymond and Gerald Corrigan, Daughter-in Law Diane O’Donnell and Son-in-Law Robert V. Schlachter She is survived by her ten loving children, Michael (Sandra Gibson), Lynne (John) Szparka, Kate (Jeff) Recker, of Orlando Florida Janice Buchele, Sue Schlachter, Bob (Barb), Dick (Laura), Julie (Dave) Binz, Laurie (Rich) Kretz, and Steve (Denise); and 35 grandchildren as well as 29 great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to visit from 3-8 p.m. Friday September 26 in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Ave. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Catherine of Siena, 4555 North Haven Ave. Memorial contributions may be made to Northwest Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or St. Catherine of Siena Parish. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.ansberg-west.com.
