Nancy Wynn Hinds
March 24, 1928 - August 31, 2016
Born March 24, 1928, Nancy departed this life for one with her Lord on August 31, 2016. She was at home, surrounded by family, smiling that special smile right up to the end. An Army brat, she grew up in Toledo but also spent time in Long Beach, Mississippi & Pennsylvania. She returned to Toledo to attend Scott High School where she met the love of her life, John Hinds. Their first date was September 23, 1941. Married in December 16, 1949, they celebrated over 66 years of marriage. Their love & commitment to each other was a shining example of what a marriage should be to the family & friends. Graduating from “TU”, she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. Season ticket holders for over 50 years, she was an avid Rockets fan. Nancy was proud of her family history & often would point out that Wynn Rd, Wynn School & Wynn Cemetery were named after her grandfather that donated the land. 2 granddaughters & 1 great-granddaughter carry-on the tradition of having Wynn as a middle name. Nancy loved to travel…anyplace & anytime. Nancy also loved her church, joining Hampton Park Christian Church. She was a quiet but steadfast Christian. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon & Ellena Gilmore, & her dear sister & brother, Patty & Gordon. In-laws & close friends are also welcoming her home with joy. She was truly loved by everyone. She leaves behind her husband John, her 3 children Catherine, John (Mary) & David (Peg). Also seven grandchildren: Mark, Katie, Danny, Melissa Wynn, Christopher, Allison Wynn & Nicole. & one great-granddaughter, Willow Wynn.
