Nynphiadora Leighton

Nynphiadora “Boots” Leighton passed away Thursday August 18, 2011 at Point Place Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Doris Christine Hoyt to Charles and Gladys (Rensinger) Hoyt October 12, 1918 and was later adopted by William and Nynphia (Belyea) Funke. She was member of the 1936 graduating class of Woodward High School and 1940 graduating class of Wittenberg University, where she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She married Frederick J. Leighton October 12, 1940 and he preceded her in death in 1967. Nynphiadora is survived by her 2 daughters, Susan (David) Smith, Christine (David) Bell; grandchildren, Frank (Joy) Perry, Fred (Tina) Smith, Leigh (John) Lesniewski; 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Special thanks to the staff at Point Place Care and Rehabilitation Center and Erie West Hospice for the loving care given to Nynphiadora. Services will be held at 11:00am Monday at Ansberg-West Funeral Home 3000 Sylvania Avenue where friends are invited to visit from 2:00pm to 7:00pm Sunday. Interment in Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
