Patricia Ann Sims

Patricia Ann Sims died Friday, May 22, 2015 at the age of 88. She was born June 27, 1927, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. Patricia was the daughter of Lucile Brady and Walter Herwald Hartman. Patricia held a Bachelors degree from the University Of Pittsburgh, and a Master's Degree of Education from Indiana University. Patricia was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha, Deborah Circle, and the American Association of University Women. Patricia was an involved leadership member of Collingwood Presbyterian Church of Toledo, Ohio, the couple raised both of their sons in the Presbyterian faith there. She met her dashing WWII veteran beau, a kind gentleman who was world-traveled while employed at Flint Hurley Hospital in Flint, Michigan. She was wedded to Basil James Sims at her Mother's home in Pittsburgh on Saturday, the twentieth of June, 1953. She returned from her honeymoon as Mrs. Basil Sims on July 1, 1953, to their new home on Willys Parkway, in Toledo, Ohio. Survivors include her two adored sons, Basil Hartman (Julie) Sims of Aiken, South Carolina, and Peter Allan Sims of Toledo, Ohio. Two step-granddaughters, Veta June Savannah Mapes of Aiken, Mrs. Georgia Ann (John Michael) Gay of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. A sister, Dolores Lucile Hammerness; niece, Amy Kirby of San Diego, California, nephew, Scott of Imperial Valley, California, and the McCallum cousins in Ontario, Canada. Funeral services and arrangements were entrusted to Todd Ansberg of Ansberg-West, Patricia's interment will be held in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park, at the Sims Family memorial grounds located in The Garden of Gethsemane, Toledo, Ohio, 4210 West Central Avenue, assisted by Pastor David Abram of Collingwood Presbyterian. Special prayer reading to be given by esteemed, beloved family friend, Kim Sheehan of Toledo, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Collingwood Presbyterian of Toledo. Family and friends will gather for visitation noon to 2 p.m,TuesdayMay 26, 2015 at Ansberg West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, Ohio where funeral services will commence at 2 p.m. Burial services to directly follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
