Raymond J. "Skip" Flood

November 5, 1928 - May 11, 2022

Raymond Flood, Sr. of Toledo, passed away May 11, 2022, in Toledo. Ray was born to Gertrude (Link) and LeRoy Flood on November 5, 1928, the youngest of eleven children. He was a 1946 graduate of Macomber High School and later attended the Ohio University School of Banking and Northwestern School of Mortgage Banking. During the Korean War, Ray served in the Army Medical Corp as a cook, and afterward would go on to make a living in the mortgage field. Ray was a member of the North Toledo Post American Legion, the Harbor Light Lodge, the Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo, and the Zenobia Shrine, in which he would serve as President of the Chanters of Zenobia and their conductor. He also served as President of the Toledo Chapter of the American Institute of Banking, on the Board of Directors for the Northwest Ohio Mortgage Bankers Association, and taught classes for the American Institute of Banking and the Savings and Loan Association. Ray was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where he served on the Church Council and sang with the choir, as Ray was a lifelong avid singer. Ray also did work for the Shrine Children's Hospitals. He was preceded in death by Doris, his wife of 48 years, as well as his parents, four sisters, and six brothers. Ray is survived by his sons, Raymond Jr., of Sylvania, OH; Dr. Timothy (Bathsheba) of Leland, NC; Mark (Debbie), of Mayfield Hts, OH, and his daughters, Rebecca (Mark) Anderson, of Toledo, OH; Pamela (Mike) Martie, of Findlay, OH; and Diana (Kevin) Chesher, of Tecumseh, MI. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue, Wednesday, May 18, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., where funeral services will be held Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Internment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church Choir Fund or the Shrine Hospitals for Children.
