Stella Poletes

Stella Poletes, age 87, passed away in Ottawa Hills on February 6, 2015. A lifetime Toledo resident, she was the oldest child of the late George and Angela Poletes, sister of William Poletes and the late Irene Poletes and James Poletes, sister-in-law of Tammy Poletes and Rena Poletes, and loving aunt and great aunt of many nieces and nephews. Stella grew up in a close and happy Greek family, and her physical disability did not stop her from helping support their vibrant household. She took special pride in being a perfectionist in housekeeping and assisting her “mama” with her traditional Greek cooking. She loved her church community and cherished every opportunity to be around family and friends. She joins in death her beloved sister Irene, who was her devoted companion and tireless caretaker. Friends are invited to visit on Monday, February 9 from 3 p.m.-8 p.m. at Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 West Sylvania Avenue, Toledo with Trisagion service starting at 7 p.m. Funeral service on Tuesday, February 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 740 N. Superior Street, Toledo. After the funeral service, Makaria memorial luncheon will be served at the church’s educational building, followed by interment at Toledo Memorial Park.
