KLOTZ Sylvia Eileen Klotz, 82, of Toledo, died suddenly at home on Friday, June 5, 2009. Sylvia was born May 24, 1927 in Toledo, Ohio to the late William Stephen and Kathleen (Winslow) Klotz. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, William Henry Klotz, Sr. of Coldwater, Michigan and grand-nephew Michael William Klotz of Coldwater, Michigan. She was also preceded in death by half-brothers and half-sisters Mary Burton, William Klotz, Agnes Waltz and Robert Klotz, all originally of Port Clinton, Ohio. Sylvia graduated from Monclova High School, Toledo, Ohio in 1946 and the University of Toledo in 1950, holding a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in biology and chemistry and a minor in social science. Sylvia enjoyed a long career as a Medical Assistant and was a founding member of the American Association of Medical Assistants. She received recognition for this achievement at the AAMA 50th Annual Convention in 2006. She was also a founding member of the Toledo Medical Assistants Association, charter member of the American Association of Medical Assistants, past president of the Ohio State Society of Medical Assistants and American Business Women's Association, Amici Chapter and Seaway Chapter. Sylvia served on the Board of Directors of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Toledo Chapter and was a member of the Toledo Zoological Society and Toledo Orchestra Association. Sylvia's career as a medical assistant/lab technologist spanned over fifty years and included positions held at Riverside Hospital, Eastside Hospital, H.J. Bollinger, M.D. Clinical Laboratory and Dorr-Secor Mediclinic, as well as her own privately-owned F&K Clinical Laboratory. Her most recent professional association was with Muhammed Y. Ahmed, M.D. serving as a medical technologist and medical assistant from 1974 to 2004. Sylvia is survived by her sister-in-law Kay (Ron) Bercaw; nephews William (Mary) Klotz, Jr., Stephen (Mary Joe) Klotz, Michael (JoEllen) Klotz and Robert (Staci) Klotz; grand nieces and nephews Katie (Mark) Salveter, Jamie (Ryan) Mulder, Sara Klotz, Jenna Klotz, Kristen Klotz, Melissa Klotz, B.J. Klotz, Katelyn Klotz, Madison Klotz, Kyra Klotz and Garett Klotz; and second cousin Geoffrey (Patricia) Jacobson. She is also survived by her half-brothers/sisters' children Robert Burton, Barbra Jo (Burton), Bill Fehnrich, Richard Waltz, Kathy (Waltz) Anderson, Jim Waltz, Mark Waltz, Teresa (Klotz) Salvia , and Jill (Klotz) Bothe. Sylvia's generous nature will be missed by family and friends including Dr. & Mrs. Muhammed Ahmed and Virginia Spitulski. Visitation will be held from 11:00 to 1:00 on Thursday June 11, 2009 with a service following at 1:00 p.m. at Ansberg Funeral Home, 3000 W. Sylvania Ave., Toledo, Ohio.
