Thomas "Georgia Tom Cat" McClain Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Thomas "Georgia Tom Cat" McClain, 84, passed away January 1, 2022 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. He was born September 8, 1937 to Frank and Polly (Michener) McClain in Glenn, Georgia. Tommy honorably served his country in the Army. He married his wife, Clara, February 3, 1962, . Tommy was a driver for Roadway Express until his retirement. He was a member of Wyldewood Baptist Church. Tommy was a caring man that loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all his heart. Almost everyday for 17 years he would watch football with his best friend, Fred Singleton over the phone. He was a wonderful man, loved by all who met him. Tommy is survived by his daughter, Robin Basilius; grandchildren, Leon and Chris Basilius; great-grandchildren, Faith,Nala, Jeffrey Basilius and Jake and Jayden Brunt; brother, Mike (Wilma) McClain; nieces and nephews, Jeff (Shawna) Maddox, Kim (Glendale) Garnes, Cindy (Jack) Bragg, Mindy (Ralph) Miller, , Tiffany (Collin), Sammy Chapin, Tommy Mills, Brandon; sister-in-law, Sandy (Jonah) Caudill and lots of wonderful family in Alabama and Georgia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara who preceded him in death March 25, 2005 and son in law, Leon Basilius Sr., on February 26, 2020. Friends are invited to visit from 12:00pm to 6:00pm Sunday January 9, 2022 at Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, Ohio 43613. Services will be held 1:00pm Monday, January 10, 2022 at Wyldewood Baptist Church, 7947 Douglas Rd, Lambertville, MI 48144, with Rev. Brett Bartlett officiating, where friends are invited to visit after 11:00am. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Robin Basilius
