David "Davey" Reynolds

David "Davey" Reynolds, 90, passed away peacefully at Hospice of Northwest Ohio and entered into his Heavenly home on April 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. David was born January 22, 1935, to Vern and Bluebell Reynolds. He was a 1954 graduate of DeVilbiss High School. In 1961, David married his one true love, Nancy Durdel, and together they had two children. David served in the US Army, was a Toledo Firefighter for 29 years and also owned D&G Builders with his brother, Gary, for a number of years. David was so proud to have been on the Toledo Fire Department and loved his home on Round Lake in Manitou Beach, Michigan. He adored his family and let them know it any chance he could. David was the epitome of a man. The very definition of a husband and a father. The pure essence of a grandfather. The best friend you could ever have. He loved his people and was always open to inviting more people into his circle. To know David was to know that he brought laughter to every room and love to every heart he touched. A one-of-a-kind soul with a quick wit, a huge heart, and a knack for making life just a little more fun. He lived with boundless energy, endless jokes, and a fierce devotion to the people he loved. Known for his pranks, playful spirit, and deep belly laughs, he reminded us all not to take life too seriously, unless it was about family. Goofy, gutsy, and gloriously himself - he left a trail of joy wherever he went. He made silly faces in family photos, danced, and loved his people with everything he had. He didn’t just show up - he burst in, full of jokes, hugs, and a love so loud you could feel it. He wasn’t perfect, but he was perfectly ours - a spunky spirit with a heart ten times too big. He made the ordinary unforgettable and loved his family like it was his life’s greatest adventure, because it was. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nancy; daughter, Kelly (Chuck) Steele; son, David; grandchildren, Jenna Steele, Jason (Brooke) Steele, Jaime (Kyle) Melchert, Jolie and Jake Steele; 10 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Gary and Kirtland Reynolds. Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 4:00p.m. - 8:00p.m. at Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 W Sylvania Ave., where a Last Alarm service will begin at 7:00p.m. Visitation will also be at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 10:00a.m. - 11:00a.m. where a memorial service will begin at 11:00a.m. Interment will follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Toledo Firefighters Museum or the Whitmer High School Band.
