Edward John Mitri

Edward John Mitri, 69, beloved husband and father went home to be with The Lord Our God on Friday, March 1st at St. Anne's Mercy Hospital in Toledo, Ohio. Edward immigrated to the United States of America from Lebanon in 1969 after he married the love of his life Sabah Haddad. He loved this country, his family, and his faith with great devotion. Edward worked for Rad-Mar Press Company for 30 years, retiring in 2004. Thereafter, he worked at Oasis Mediterranean Cuisine in semi-retirement, where he made many cherished friends. He enjoyed sharing meals, laughter, special moments, and memories with others. He especially enjoyed Saturday morning breakfasts with his children. He was an avid sports fan, including of the Detroit Pistons and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Edward was a wonderful Husband, Father and Brother, whose passion for life, dynamic personality, tremendous altruism, and radiant smile made him loved and adored by all who knew him. His quick wit, penchant for jokes, and kind words leave a lasting and endearing impression for those who were truly fortunate and blessed to know him as friends and family. He was a faithful member of the St. George Orthodox Cathedral for 44 years, a place which was his second home and comprised of parishioners who were like his second family and who loved him as much as he loved them. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Phileep and Wardy Mitri, his father-in-law Michael Haddad, and brothers-in-law Todd Hamlin and Mike Razouk. He will be deeply and sadly missed by his loving wife Sabah of 43 years; children Philip and Lory; brother George (Maha); sister Georgette (Samir) Tabet; mother-in-law Namora Haddad; brothers and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Edward's many friends at Oasis for their love and support during his illness. He was a blessing to know; a joy to love; and a giving, caring man of Christ. Friends are invited to visit on Monday from 2:00-4:00pm, and 5:00-8:00pm in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Ave. where Trisagion prayers will begin at 7:30pm. Visitation will also begin on Tuesday at 10:00am in the funeral home and will be immediately followed by funeral services beginning at 11:00am at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral, 3754 Woodley Rd.
