Judith M. Schreiner

Our loving mother, Judith Schreiner, age 83, died on August 24, 2026, in her hometown. Judith was born on December 7, 1942, the second of five children of Nina Mae (Ridenour) Turnbull and David Leslie Turnbull in Toledo, Ohio. Judith grew up in Lambertville, MI, where she attended St. Anthony’s Elementary School and graduated from Bedford High School in 1960. Judith was married to Laurence Daudelin until his death in 1967 and is survived by their three children, Diane (Keith) Wehrle, Alex (Wendy) Daudelin, and Peter (Vivian) Daudelin. Judith married Thomas Schreiner in 1976 and they were together 44 years until his death in 2020. Widowed, with young children, Judith found strength and relied on her faith to persevere. She soon secured a position as a legal secretary at Owens-Illinois. She was humble, loyal, proud and determined to provide for her family. Judy became an integral part of the legal team for 34 years, retiring in 2008. She was dedicated to maintaining order in the legal department with her meticulous shorthand, organizational skills, and the ability to keep track of years of legal filings with her professionalism balanced with a good sense of humor. While at Owens-Illinois, she made special, lifelong friends in Barbara Fisher, Holly Taylor, Terry Hicks, Joyce Hizer, Phyllis Pfitzer, and Wanda Lawrence Adams. She also deeply appreciated her excellent working relationship with the final lawyer she assisted before retiring, Raj. Judith had a lifelong passion for reading; she was such an avid reader that she was rarely found without a book on her lap. She patiently passed on her love of bird-watching, gardening, tatting, crocheting, and puzzle-solving to her family. She was also blessed with a compassionate heart, caring for many beloved pet cats and dogs over the years. A long-time resident of Toledo and Lambertville, Judy was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husbands, and her sisters, Faye Hartline and Nancy Melcher. She is survived by her sibling, Marni (Robert) Rose; her three children; grandchildren (Travis, Kyla, Bram, Kyle, Meghan, Matthew, Katherine, Elizabeth and Tiffany) and 8 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on September 12, 2026, at 10am St. Pius X Church, Toledo, Ohio. A private family only interment will follow. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Ansberg-West Funeral Home, Toledo, Ohio. The family requests donations, in lieu of flowers, be sent to Hospice of Michigan. The family would like to thank the staff at Hampton Manor and Hospice of Michigan for their kindness and compassionate care.
