Mary L. Rollins

Mary Lou Rollins, 78, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. Mary will be forever remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to many. Whether she was stopping to compliment a stranger, chatting with her grandchildren, making her family laugh, or providing unconditional support to her children, Mary left an imprint that will last forever as the pinnacle of the family. Born in Bono, OH on October 2, 1947, to Jose and Guadalupe (Martinez) Banda, Mary grew into a person who embodied strength, perseverance, generosity, and kindness. As she balanced raising three children, Mary worked long hours at several jobs to support her family. Notably, Mary worked, and retired, at Toledo Hospital as a unit clerk where she was well known for her brightness, exuberance, and humor. In her free time, Mary enjoyed gardening, visiting the orchard to pick fresh fruit, listening to the Bee Gees, spending time with her family, watching television with her cats (routinely Twilight Zone, Dateline, or 90 Day Fiancé), sewing, and cooking her family favorite meals. From her famous pineapple cake to her tostadas with spanish rice, or the pumpkin empanadas, Mary’s cooking invariably displayed her love for her family. Today, Mary is survived by her children, Eugene (Kimberly) Rollins, Creed (Sherri) Rollins, Jr., and Heather (Jon) Bae; grandchildren, Jeffery, David (Faye), Kendra, Olivia and Taylor Rollins, Jonah and Marah Bae; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Guadalupe (Rubio) Lopez, Richard and Elizabeth Banda; best friend, Josie; and neighbor, Barb. She is preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Joe (Minerva) Banda and Carlos Banda. Mary’s family would like to extend a special thank you and heartfelt recognition to Mary’s nurse, Gregg, employed at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Gregg provided wonderful care to Mary with a strong sense of respect, kindness, and humility. Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 3:00pm – 7:00pm at Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 W. Sylvania Ave. and again on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 10:00am – 11:00am, where a memorial service will begin at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Toledo Humane Society or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
