Michael Henry Kilisch

Michael Henry Kilisch, 74, of Maumee, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025. Born and raised in Toledo to Henry and Mary (Green) Kilisch, Mike remained deeply rooted in the city he loved. He was the devoted brother of Patty (Jim) Logos and of the late Cindy Tomasi, and the beloved father of Laura (Doug) Kruse and Andrew Kilisch. He shared a lasting friendship and mutual respect with his children’s mother, Cathie Paul. He is also survived by his nieces and nephew, Natalie Tomasi, Joe Tomasi, and Ashley (Matt) Gabel, all of whom he loved deeply, as well as his extended family. To his grandchildren, Caroline and Molly Kruse, Mike was more than a grandfather - he was their “one in a million Papa.” He never came empty-handed, always arriving with a bag of Oreos or gummy Lifesavers for the girls, and never turning down a trip to the nearest concession stand or a chance to root them on from the sidelines of their games. His quiet joy came from simple moments with them, and he embodied everything a Papa should be: kind, present, patient, and full of love. Mike proudly worked for UPS for 37 years, retiring at 55. His dedication, loyalty, and work ethic earned him not just respect, but a lifetime of friendships. Monday nights spent with his UPS crew were sacred—full of shared meals, laughter, and the same genuine camaraderie that marked so much of his life. He was a gentle soul with a steady heart - trustworthy, loyal, and quietly generous. He loved cheering on the Cleveland Indians from the left field bleachers of Jacob's Field and never missed a Buckeye football Saturday. In quieter moments, he found peace by the water, fishing from the edge of a pond or lake. Mike’s greatest pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. He showed up—for the big things, the little things, and everything in between. His love for his family was unconditional and unshakable, and his legacy of warmth, dry humor, and unwavering presence will live on in them. What a gift it was to be loved by him. We will miss him greatly and carry him with us forever. Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 2:00pm – 4:00pm at Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 W. Sylvania Ave., where a memorial service will begin at 4:00pm. Interment took place privately at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. One of Mike’s most treasured family traditions was shopping together for Toys for Tots each December. In honor of his generous spirit and love of giving, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army in lieu of flowers.
