Paul John Meyer

Paul John Meyer 93, passed away Friday, May 31, 2024. Paul was born in Pittsburgh, PA and moved to Toledo at age 13. He was the son of Paul and Mary Meyer. Paul was from Hungary and Mary from Ukraine. He grew up in East Toledo where he attended Good Shepard and then graduated from Central Catholic High School. During that time he made many friends who all went to the Air Force upon graduating from high school. He and his friends were life long friends and always remained best friends. While in the Air Force he meet the love of his life, Joyce Miller, on a blind date at the old Toledo Sports Arena. They stayed together through his time in the military and got engaged when he was home on leave at the Centennial Quarry. They had 67 years of marriage and 8 children before her passing in 2022. Joyce was always his shining star. Paul graduated from The University of Toledo with an engineering degree and had a long career with Owens Illinois. He loved his work and traveling but he loved Joyce and his family more than anything. He was a life long member of The Most Blessed Sacrament Parish and Co-Chair of the capital campaign for the addition of the Narthex and the restoration of the sanctuary. He was also actively involved with the Holy Name Society. Paul was a golfer but more so an avid card player and fisherman as well a craftsman with stained glass, a hobby he started upon his retirement. He would never turn down a game of bridge, poker or euchre. Nothing made him happier than a day on Lake Erie walleye and perch fishing on his son Steve's boat. Paul is survived by his only daughter, Beth (Tim) Rogers; sons, Steve (Kim), Mark (Mary Ann), Mike (Alissa), Greg (Vanessa) and Karl. He was preceded in death by his sons, Tom and Jim (Katie); and sister, Dolores. He has 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, June 21, at 11 a.m. An open visitation starting at 10 a.m. in the Narthex. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Heartbeat of Toledo or The Most Blessed Sacrament Parish. Immediately following the Memorial Mass please join us for a luncheon at Knights of Columbus Hall on Secor Road.
