Robert John McCullough

Robert John “Bob” McCullough passed away peacefully, at his home, on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, surrounded by his family. He was born Kittanning, PA, to Robert Fletcher and Helen Gertrude (Miller) McCullough. Bob lived in Toledo for 60 years, graduating from St. Francis Grade School and Central Catholic High School, in 1957. He served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corp, in the 1960's, during the Cuban Missile Crisis and continued in the Reserves for several years. Bob was a member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church and was a former member and lector at St. Agnes Catholic Church for many years. He worked at Graybar Electric, Westinghouse, Kiemle-Hankins and retired from McNaughton-McKay, in 2005. After retirement, Bob enjoyed golfing, going to the casinos (especially Windsor) and swimming at the Y.M.C.A. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo “Joey” (Irwin) McCullough; sons, John, James (Denise) and Thomas (Shannon); daughter, Molly (Ty); grandchildren, Kaci, Dalton, Riley and Kada Dru. Also surviving is his sister, Beverly (Donald) Leonhardt, nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents. Friends are invited to visit from 2-7 p.m. Sunday, in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue, where a scripture service will follow at 7 p.m. Prayers will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, from the funeral home followed by the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m., in Blessed Sacrament Church. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery. The family expresses their appreciation for the wonderful nurses at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Cathy, Sue, Linda, Kathy and Carol and the wonderful caring people at The Toledo Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio. My dad was my friend. I am so thankful that we were able to share as many things together that we did, and for all the time we had together. He was my hero in many ways, he was giving, and was a great influence in my life and will continue to be. I love you Dad and you will be deeply missed. My dad will always be with me wherever I go and I know he's up there watching over me and my family. Be good to yourself, dad, we miss you and love you very much.
