Stella Jane Kaminski

Stella Jane Kaminski, 93, our Mother, passed away at home on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 with her family by her side. She was born to Joseph and Ethel Birner on February 28, 1925. She attended school at Indiana Elementary and graduated from Scott High School in 1943. During her high school years, she and her late brother Art were members of the Direct Credit Society Band. Shoe worked at Wolson’s Drugs at Dorr St. and Forest. Jane married her husband of 65 years on November 28, 1948 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Toledo. A year later, on December 13, 1949 they welcomed their first son, Charles. Their son Michael was born three years later on December 24, 1952. After raising her boys, she returned to work at McKinley School as the lunchtime manager for the classes of the hearing impaired. Later she was employed for many years at Anton Star Cleaners on Bellvue Rd. in Toledo. When her grandchildren came along she always demanded the right of first refusal for babysitting because she didn’t want just anyone watching her grandkids. Jane was an avid dog and animal lover. She nurtured and cared for her dog Buddy for over 17 years. She fed the birds and squirrels around her home. Jane will be dearly missed by her sons Charles and Michael (Cathryn) Kaminski; granddaughters, Geni Kaminski-Scalio, Michelle (David) Poeppelmeier, Nicole (Jeremy) Graves, eight great grandchildren, and brother Robert (Heidi) Birner. She will also be greatly missed by her dog Brutus who was always at her side to bite the ankles of anyone who got near his Mama. She was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws, Charles and Rose Kaminski; infant brother Russell; brother Arthur, and husband Andrew. Her loss will also be greatly felt by Sandy Berry who cared for her over the last year as is she were her own mother. Mom would tell her she loved her. Sandy was always there for her and wee could not have coped without her. Her family wishes to give special thanks to the nurses and aids for Ohio Living Hospice who helped ease Mom on her Journey. Friends are invited to visit on Wednesday June 13, 2018 after 10:00am in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 W. Sylvania Ave. where funeral services will begin at 12:00noon.
